Free WCAG/ADA Compliance Testing

On July 26, 1990, The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) became law and established that all “places of accommodation” must be accessible to all. We have certainly crossed that threshold that establishes websites as such places. Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0 AA) is the guide used to provide website accessibility for disabled visitors. Because website accessibility is a civil right, there are a growing number of individuals taking legal action against companies who are not in compliance.

For the past 6 years, Brockett Creative Group has been working with local businesses and organizations to achieve WCAG/ADA compliance for their websites. They provide accessibility testing, WCAG auditing, and corrective action to help achieve maximum accessibility and avoid legal ramifications. In addition, all of BCG’s websites are built to comply with WCAG/ADA standards.

BCG is now offering free Website Compliance Testing to local businesses and organizations. If you or your company is interested in this service, contact us for more information.

Brockett Creative Group (BCG) is a full-service marketing agency specializing in web design, copywriting, digital marketing, content marketing, advanced programming, and videography.

NYSTIA Award for Niche Marketing

The New York State Tourism Industry Association, representing and uniting New York’s tourism industry, held its 5th annual Tourism Excellence awards at the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge in Queensbury, NY, where they added 16 more to the New York State Tourism Industry’s list of tourism’s best of the best. Both companies and individuals alike were celebrated for commitment, leadership, and accomplishment in travel and tourism, and honored for their projects and contributions to the economic growth of tourism in New York state over the last year.

Mohawk Valley Region Path Through History (MVPTH) was recognized as one of New York’s successful programs and was awarded the Tourism Excellence Award in Niche Marketing. The Tourism Excellence Awards honor individuals, attractions and tourism promotion agencies whose creativity and passion help make New York the destination of choice.

MVPTH approached us to come on board, and we were gladly able to take their vision and provide them with website development, branding, print design, along with a full-scale marketing campaign including online advertising, social media advertising, and traditional marketing strategies to launch their New York State Bike Through History tourism project in 2017. The project focused on highlighting and celebrating significant historical sites that would now be accessible from bike trails stretching from Saratoga to Oneida County. The New York Bicycling Coalition played a vital role in the project by planning, routing, and developing the bike paths. Thanks to the vision of the MVPTH committee members and the services we contributed, MVPTH was awarded the Tourism Excellence Award in Niche Marketing with an operating budget under $500K. Users of MVPTH’s Bike Thru History website can plan tours of these sites and offers an interactive approach to their visit.

Brockett Creative Group Expands, Moves Back to Original Home in Clinton

Brockett Creative Group — a Mohawk Valley advertising, marketing, and internet strategy firm — says it has moved back to where the business first got its start in Clinton.

Matthew Brockett started Brockett Creative Group in 2002 and one of his first offices was located behind the Clinton Cleaners. As the business grew, it moved to New Hartford where it developed into a full-service marketing company, offering web design, marketing and public-relations services, branding, video-production services, creative/graphic-design services, and more.

In the last year, Brockett Creative Group has expanded from nine employees to 11, so it needed more space, according to Catrina M. Dibble, the firm’s director of marketing.

Brockett Creative Group, which is celebrating its 16th anniversary, found that additional room at the site of the former Clinton Cleaners at 43 College St. in Clinton, where it is leasing 1,800 square feet of space. The company’s prior location at 4299 Middle Settlement Road in New Hartford was about 1,100 square feet, according to Dibble.

“The new location is more accommodating for clients, has a fresh feel, lends itself to a more ‘creative’ environment, and is a larger space,” she tells CNYBJ
